X / Twitter bold and italic text generator
X only offers its own bold and italic controls to Premium accounts. Threadly converts formatting into Unicode glyphs that still show up for everyone else. This page is that converter: bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough, plus a 280-character counter.
Example: 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝 · 𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑐 · u̲n̲d̲e̲r̲l̲i̲n̲e̲ · s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶.
It does not schedule posts, track analytics, or log into X. For threads, drag-to-reorder, templates, and the AI assistant, use the full X editor after you have the glyphs you want.
60 / 280 characters (standard X post)
Select words first to style only that range. With nothing selected, the style applies to the whole box. Formatting stays in your browser.
How to use it
- 01
Write the post in plain text
Type or paste the words you want on X. The box starts with a short example you can replace.
- 02
Style a selection, or the whole post
Highlight a phrase and choose bold, italic, underline, or strikethrough. If nothing is selected, the style applies to everything in the box. Bullets prefix each non-empty line with the same • glyph the X editor inserts for lists.
- 03
Stay inside 280 characters
The counter uses Threadly's code-point count. Standard posts and every post in a thread are capped at 280 in the X editor. This page uses that same cap.
- 04
Copy and paste into X
Copy the glyphs and paste them into the X composer. Threadly does not connect to your X account.
Questions
Does this bold text work without X Premium?
Yes. The generator turns letters into Unicode glyphs for bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough. Those glyphs display in the timeline for readers who are not on X Premium. This is not X's own bold button, which Premium accounts format inside the X composer. You paste the glyphs.
How are characters counted?
Threadly counts Unicode code points, the same counter the X editor uses. The limit on this page is 280, which is the limit for a standard post and for every post in a thread.
Will Threadly post this to X?
No. Copy the text and paste it into X yourself. The full X editor can also hold drafts in your browser, but it does not publish for you either.
Is the generator free?
Yes. This page runs in your browser and does not ask for an account. The text you type here is not sent to a server. The full X editor is free too, and its AI assistant uses free OpenRouter models when you choose to run it.
What happens if I press Bold twice?
A letter that is already a Unicode bold or italic glyph stays as it is, because the converter only restyles plain ASCII letters. Underline and strikethrough add a combining mark, so apply each of those once.
Need a thread, templates, or the AI assistant?
The X editor adds single posts, threads with drag-to-reorder, local drafts, templates, and a free AI assistant on OpenRouter. Unicode formatting there uses this same engine. It still will not publish to X for you.
